Pablo de Sarasate

Pablo de Sarasate , of its complete name Pablo Martín Melitón de Sarasate Navascués was there a Violoniste and Spanish Compositeur , born the March 10th 1844 with Pampelune, dead the September 20th 1908 with Biarritz. It was one of the violonists the most famous virtuosos of his time.

Pablo Sarasate was wire of a military chief of brass band. It occurred for the first time in public at the eight years age, then studied first of all with Madrid then with the Conservatoire of Paris (in the class of Joseph Massart). As of 1859, it occurred in round in all Europe as well as in two Americas, of North and the South.

Sarasate is the dedicatee of a certain number of works, of which the Spanish Symphonie of Edouard Lalo, the Concerto for violin n° 3 and the Introduction and Rondo Cappricioso COp 28 of Camille Saint-Saëns or the Scottish Fantaisie ( Scottish Fantasy ) of max Bruch.

The proper compositions of Sarasate are mainly brilliant pieces intended to emphasize its virtuosity. Most known of its works is probably Zigeunerweisen (1878), piece for violin and orchestra. Five years later, in 1883, it composed another piece for violin and orchestra, Carmen-Imagination , which took again topics used in the opera Carmen of Georges Bizet. It also carried out arrangements for violin of various works of other type-setters. In the first years of the 20th century, it took part in some recordings.

The American painter James McNeill Whistler realized, in 1884, a portrait of Sarasate entitled Arrangement in Black: Pablo de Sarasate .

In the news the league of the redheads (1891) of Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes and the Dr. John H. Watson attend a concert of Sarasate.
