Pa Tepaeru Terito Ariki was born on August 14th, 1923. In 1943, it succeeds her mother under Pa Ariki, one of the two titles of the tribe of Takitumu. It had of a first marriage nine children, three boys: Taitairariki, George, Malcolm, and six girls: Mahinarangi, Bambi, Suibel, Marie, Elzabeth and Memory.

Not hesitating to hustle the traditions, it converts in the years 1950 with the Bahaïsme, becoming the first ariki not Christian. She made also scandal while divorcing its first husband, which at the time constituted for the Cook islands an exception.

She married in 1979, in second wedding Tom Davis, then Prime Minister for the archipelago. Nevertheless very attached to its prerogatives as Ariki, she refused to be done called " First Lady " (First Lady), considering that outrageant. " I consider that it is insulting to be called First Lady for political reasons! I am ariki, I was born thus. As such, I am in any case a first Lady ". She had remainder with her husband of the sometimes difficult relations. She was opposed thus to many recoveries with her political decisions. In March 1986, she openly criticized the project of opening of a hotel complex with Muri on the grounds of the tribe. It seems that the discussion which followed in the intimacy of the couple transformed into pugilism, it is all at least what affirmed the local rumor, very active in the Cook islands. The local press and New Zealand was made remainder of it also the echo. Geoffrey Henry benefitted from it to ask for the resignation of Tom Davis, evoking marital violences. Tom Davis disappeared during a few days. Officially this one had been accidentally wounded, suffering cuts with the ear, the groin and on the chest, which of course all the more fed the rumor. " a neighbor living close to the residence of the couple declared under cover of anonymity 'if the cut with the groin had been longer of an half-inch, Sir Thomas would be today soprano with the church of Ngatangiia " (" White Savages in the South Seas" of Mel Kernahan p. 197). This mysterious business nevertheless was contradicted later by Pa Terito which declared that her husband had been wounded itself during his sleep while being turned over on his hunting knife. The project of hotel was finally abandoned.

Pa Terito was to die on February 3rd, 1990 and buried according to the rite bahai' I. His/her oldest daughter Marie Peyroux succeeded to him the title as a Pa Tepaeru Teariki Upokotini Marie Ariki.
