Esther Lachmann , marchioness of Païva, known as Païva , is famous a Salonnière, " courtisane" and large amatrice of Diamond S of the 19th century (1819 - 1884).
Born Jewish parents Polish taken refuge in Russia, it flees Moscow and misery towards 1838 to settle with Paris, where it changes its first name into Therese and meets the rich person Pianiste Henri Herz who makes known to him all the artists and writers of time. She marries noble Portuguese, the marquis Aranjo of Paiva, of which she will bear the name, “ which sounds well”, but she separates from it shortly after their marriage.
Widow, it marries the count Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck, richissime Silesia N which buys the to him Château of Pontchartrain and by the architect Pierre Manguin a hotel with the Fields-Élysées makes him build. In 1877, suspected of espionage it must leave France and is withdrawn in Silesia with the castle of Neudeck (now Świerklaniec) where it deceased in 1884.
It was also the mistress of the duke of Gramont.

The May 17th 2007, Sotheby' S sold with Geneva two Diamant S having belonged to him, respectively to 3,5 and 5 million Swiss francs (2 and 3 million euros).
