|} Philips Sport Vereniging (in French Sports association of Philips ) more known under the name of PSV Eindhoven or PSV is a general sports club Dutch located at Eindhoven. Particularly famous, its footbalistic section most known is that of the Football evolves/moves in the first division Dutchwoman.
It is about the one of the three larger clubs of the country (with the Ajax Amsterdam and the Feyenoord Rotterdam). It was essential in Coupe of Europe of the clubs champions in 1988 and takes part regularly in the Ligue of the Champions. The players are called the Boeren (farm ), this primarily because all the inhabitants of the Netherlands apart from the triangular zone: Amsterdam - Utrecht - $the Hague are made " traiter" of " Boeren" by those which come there. (A Little the same style as the Parisian ones which names the other French areas the " Provinces"). But also because of the reputation hard, known as " rurale" , practicing play of the Netherlanders let us brabançons, opposite with the simple and direct play traditionally practiced.
History
The club was created by the factories Philips the August 31st 1913 in order to celebrate the centenary of the defeat of the France in the Napoleonean wars. Very early a professional team of football was installation, reserved to the only employees of the company until in 1933. Based with Eindhoven, it evolves/moves in the Philips Stadion of a current capacity of 35.000 sitted places stage which will accommodate several European finales and which was one of the stages chosen to receive the Euro 2000. It was built at the same time as the creation of the club and is always with the point as regards equipment throughout its history. In 1954, Dutch football is reformed while obtaining an elite with single hen. Before this date, six regional championships existed, and their various winners clashed at the end of the season to designate the national champion. In this period, the PSV will obtain 12 regional titles and 3 nationals.
The club was constituted by cumulating national and international titles, an impressive prize list thanks to talented players such as Ruud Gullit, Ronald Koeman, Mateja Kezman, Romario, Ronaldo, Luc Nilis, Philip Cocu, Erik Gerets, Jaap Stam, Ruud van Nistelrooy or Arjen Robben which all left a trace in the club. The club took a real dimension in the Années 1970 thanks to Willy van der Kuijlen, Jan van Beveren, Jan Poortvliet or Huub Stevens which was concretized by the victory in UEFA Cup against the club French SC Bastia in 1978 (victory 3-0).
In 1988, pulled by Guus Hiddink and with a team including/understanding Ronald Koeman, Eric Gerets Soren Lerby and Wim Kieft, the PSV gains the Coupe of Europe of the clubs champions for the first time of its history, by beating the club Portuguese SSL Benfica in a meeting of shootings to the goals, after having eliminated the Real Madrid and the Girondins from Bordeaux. But they will not be essential in intercontinental Coupe against the Uruguyan of the Club Nacional in a meeting of shootings on the goals which this time does not smile to them.
The PSV then adopts a policy of recruitment by unearthing new talents in South America and Europe such as Romario, Ronaldo or Mateja Kezman which after leaves the club to join the large clubs of England or Spain, then more recently in Asia with Park Ji-Sung or Lee Young-Pyo which since also left two years after their arrivals. Indeed, in spite of their will, the club is unable to keep its best elements because of a less attractive championship and of a more restricted budget. For proof, the European countryside which carried out them in semi-final of Ligue of the Champions in 2005 had as a consequence the South Korean departures of both , Mark van Bommel, Johann Vogel or of Wilfred Bouma replaced by new players definitely less known and less dear, but make it possible the club to be qualified for the second phase. The club will take part this year in the quarterfinals of the Ligue of the Champions.
The club knew large trainers, in particular Guus Hiddink which enabled them to gain the only Cut of the champions of their history or Eric Gerets with which they gained the championship twice. This year Ronald Koeman succeeds Hiddink and the heavy task to make its predecessor as well as, accordingly it recruits the Ecuadorian Edison Méndez or the Mexican Carlos Salcido after their performances in World cup 2006.
