PROFINET

PROFINET is an open standard of communication for the industrial automation. It was created by the organization of the users PROFIBUS, which counts more than 1200 members, and was developed by Siemens. From his opening and his character not owner, standard PROFINET allows the use of any type and all marks of material. The first version of this standard was published in August 2001. PROFINET is standardized CEI 61158 and CEI 61784.

PROFINET and OSI model

PROFINET is based on Ethernet and put systematically on the IEEE 802.3u: Fast Ethernet 100Mbit/s. PROFINET uses TCP/IP as well as the standards of technology the information (Web server: HTTP, e-mail: smtp, transfer of file: ftp). PROFINET allows the use of technology XML. PROFINET supports protocol SNMP, very useful for the remote maintenance and the diagnosis network.

PROFINET and pyramid CIM

PROFINET allow an easy integration of very drunk ground (not only PROFIBUS), thanks to the footbridges especially designed for this purpose. PROFINET is a complete standard, which answers all the requirements relating to the implementation of Ethernet in automation. PROFINET meets needs which go from the level ground on the level led.
