The predicts (Latin præsagium ) is a generic term indicating a manifestation of the gods in order to make known the future.
The Romain S used several terms more or less Synonyme S ( omen, monstrum, signum, ostentum… ). The gods can appear by the dreams, at the time of the Sacrifice S (if the exta are badly formed), by natural disasters (rising, earthquake), the flight of the birds…
One predicts is not characterized objectively from a normal event , but by the feeling of horror (felt in the presence of the divine one).
