PEN State Nittany Lions is a club general sports university of the Pennsylvania State University. The teams of Nittany Lions take part in the university competitions organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. PEN State belongs to division Big Ten Conference.
The most famous team of Nittany Lions is that of American football which was national champion in 1982 and 1986. John Cappelletti moreover was honoured by a Heisman Trophy in 1973. PEN State uses the Beaver Stadium, enclosure of 107.282 places inaugurated in 1960. Nittany Lions have the reputation to be excellent on the formation of the linebackers.
In addition to American football, the other strong point of PEN State is its teams of Volley-ball (1 male title in 1994 and 1 female title in 1999) and of Escrime (10 national titles).
