PDF-417

The PDF-417 (or PDF417) is a format of Code-bars to 2 dimensions. pdf means Portable Dated File in reference to its great storage capacity (2710 characters). The encoding is done in two stages: first of all the data are converted into " words-clé" (High level Encoding) then those are converted into reasons of bars and spaces. (Encoding of low level) Moreover one system of correction of the errors on several levels is included, it allows to reconstitute badly printed data, erased, fuzzy or torn off.

  1. the code is composed of 3 to 90 lines.

  2. a line is made up from 1 to 30 columns of data.
  3. So necessary a mechanism named " Macro PDF417" allows to distribute more data on several code-bars.
  4. the level of correction of the errors goes from 0 to 8.
