PB-1000
PB-1000 is a palm computer launched by the Japanese company Casio, in the middle of the Années 1980.
It is one of all the last models of the range PB, with which Casio with known an enormous success grace in particular to the models PB-100 and PB-700
Compared to the preceding models, PB-1000 brings many innovations of which some will remain single in the Casio range. For the material part:
- a foldable case
- a touchscreen
- the organization of the memory in " disc virtuel" , without limitation of the number of programs and recorded files (the preceding models make it possible to store only one preset number of programs)
- the addition of the language Assembleur in addition to the language BASIC
- a utility of exploration of the memory
It integrates also some functions common to the Casio machines of the time: Calc, a system of " to copy/coller" mathematics allowing to calculate very simply without programming of the equations containing variables, and it block-note Memo. These functions profit from the hardware and software environment improved of the PB-1000 to gain in flexibility and effectiveness, making it possible for example to constitute very simply banks of formulas personalized accessible dice the launching of the apparatus by a click on the touchscreen.
The PB-1000 also proposes a broad choice of peripherals, among which the disk drive MD-100 (also integrating an interface RS-232) and several models of printers.

Derived successors and computers
The PB-1000 is launched at one period or the palm computers declining, are competed with by increasingly powerful programmable computers. The PB-1000 will be declined in 3 versions of which some will be distributed apart from Japan, but the following computers produced by the mark will be intended only for the Japanese market.
-
PB-1000C is the only palm computer has to take again the foldable case with screen tacticle PB-1000. Compared to the PB-1000, he proposes the language CASL instead of the language Assembleur
- PB-2000C is the very last palm computer of the range PB. Instead of the foldable case of the PB-1000 and PB-1000C, it takes again the cast solid traditional format of old PB, and does not have a touchscreen. It integrates out of standard the language C instead of the language BASIC, and has an allowing port of extension, thanks to specific cartridges, to use other computer programming languages.
- AI-1000 proposes out of standard language LISP, and the same case as PB-2000C. It also makes it possible to change computer programming language by the addition of cartridges.
From the PB-2000C, Casio will not produce any more a computer of the range PB, but will include in its new ranges the possibility of using several computer programming languages. It will be the case of FX-890P, last computer of the range FX, which uses a microprocessor 16 bit and proposes out of standard the languages BASIC, C, CASL, and Assembleur; as well as computers of ranges AX, VX, and Z-1
