PADESM

Initials of the Party of Disinherited of Madagascar. As a Madagascan, the official name of this one was Firaisan' ny Tanindrana sy ny Mainti-enindreny ary ny Karazany will rehetra eto Madagasikara , " Union of Coastal and Mainti-enindreny and compared to Madagascar" , which excluded from it especially Merina from origin indonésienne, qualified for the circumstance of Hova fotsy or " Hova blancs". Moreover, article 7 of the statutes of Padesm declared it explicitly. And it was the same for the one of its slogans: Madagascar with the Madagascans, Malayan to know here them [[Merina]] in Malaysia .

Padesm is born officially on July 1st, 1946, at the instigation of a group of Mainty and Tanindrana and made of Ramambason (of origin mainty) its General secretary. It appears however at the great day only on August 6th, 1946, the day of the fiftieth anniversary of the law of annexation of Madagascar like French colony. This choice is highly significant since Padesm wanted to be resolutely pro-colonial and rejected any prospect of independence for Madagascar. Moreover, it held especially its hostility with MDRM, a nationalist party animated mainly by Merina. In this direction, Padesm is located from the point of view of the " policy of the races" inaugurated by Galliéni and being used since as backdrop of the poilitic Frenchwoman in Madagascar. What made it possible to say that the true instigators of Padesm were actually the colonial authorities. In any case, these last openly support it in its policy to try to stop the progression of the MDRM. At the time of the events consecutive to the March 29th, 1947, Padesm showed of a loyalty without fault towards the capacity in place and well its members (like, for example, Albert, the father of Didier Ratsiraka in Moramanga!) took an active part in repression against the insurrectionists. After the prohibition of the MDRM, shown without proof to be at the origin of the disorders, Padesm becomes the political principal party of Madagascar and it is thus among its members that the French colonial authorities choose the future leaders of the Malagasy République. Among the latter, one can quote Philibert Tsiranana; Norbert Zafimahova, future president of the National Assembly, whose niece becomes the wife of Zafy Albert; Pascal Velonjara, father-in-law of Didier Ratsiraka; the Prime Minister Francisque Ravony, wire of Jules Ravony and son-in-law of Tsiranana; the Prime Minister Emmanuel Rakotovahiny; Albert Sylla, minister of Tsiranana and father of Jacques Sylla. In fact, a great part among the leaders of the Malagasy Republic, and this practically until our days, are resulting from Padesm and its direct heritage.
