Pétange ( Péiteng in Luxembourg, German Petingen in ) is a Luxembourg locality and chief town of the frontier commune of the same name of the south-west of the Grand-Duché of Luxembourg in the high valley of the Chiers.
The opening in 1880 of the line Pétange- Ettelbrück (Line of Attert) and of the Pétange-Luxembourg line in 1900 still accentuated this development.
Pétange receives its armorial bearings on November 15th, 1976.
The upper part of the Blazon comes from the armorial bearings from Longwy, Pétange having been until in 1793 pennies the sovereignty of the Lords of Longwy.
The average part represents the rails of railroad which gave its rise to Pétange.
The low part represents part of the armorial bearings (the lion) of the family of Nassau in honor of Prince Henri who supported the development of the railroad in Luxembourg.
