Péta

Péta (symbol P ) is a Préfixe of the international system (IF) which represents 1015 is a million billion.

Adopted in 1975, it comes from the Greek πέντε, five , because equal to 10005. Although officially spelled peta , the use devoted the epellation péta .

In Data-processing, Po or péta-byte (in English, Pb, sometimes PB, for petabyte ) represents 10245 bytes often incorrectly (and not a million billion). See binary Prefix.

As example, in July 2004, the whole of the files placed at the disposal by the users of the networks Station-with-station represented a few tens of péta-bytes (forty to around fifty approximately).
