Péritel (the Abbreviation of péritélévision ) is a Connecteur audio and video which allows a fast and reliable connection audio signals and video analogical by means of a connector to 21 contacts. It is also known under the Sigle SCART (which wants to say Syndicat of the Manufacturers of Apparatuses Radio receiving sets and Television sets ).
History
It was defined and announced in
1978, and was made obligatory then on all the Téléviseur S marketed in France starting from
1981. One finds any never or almost never in
America.
Rather than name Péritel (used primarily in France), certain countries use the term Scart which is the acronym of the Syndicat of the manufacturers of apparatuses radio receiving sets and television sets .
The Péritel catch is defined by the European standard INTO 50049-1 published by CENELEC.
Description
The signals being able to forward by this connector are the following:
- Entered Video composite
- composite Video out
- Entered Video with separate components (Y/C or S-Video) (according to models)
- Video out with separate components (Y/C or S-Video) (according to models)
- Entered RVB (according to the apparatuses, so called RGB)
- Left RVB (according to models)
- Entered YUV
- Left YUV
- Entered its (stereophony on certain models)
- Left its (stereophony on certain models)
- Signals remote control (on certain models, according to compatibility)
- slow Commutation (video + its)
- fast Commutation (video + RVB, allows the video incrustation, according to the apparatuses)
According to the type of the apparatuses, certain possibilities can not be available. For example:
- a Magnétoscope neither entered, nor left RVB (except very rare exceptions)
- a television set seldom has exit RVB
- a numerical satellite receiver has an exit RVB, but an analogical receiver does not have any.
In addition, some of these signals forward by the same contacts, one cannot thus have which it at the same time:
- the entry and exit RVB are common.
- the signal of color (C) of the entries and composite exits (Y-C) is also divided with signals RVB (it is a posterior extension to the standard of origin).
- signal YUV (posterior extension to the standard of origin) is generally transmitted on the pins reserved for signal RVB but certain apparatuses make pass the signal Y on the pin of entry or composite video out.
Lastly, the signals of remote control are not standardized (although they are in theory signals to the standard I2C). The orders used thus depend on the manufacturer (just like with the remote controls Infrarouge S).
Aircraft equipped with a Péritel catch
The following apparatuses generally have a Péritel catch to connect them to a television set:
Stitching
The
stitching of the Péritel catch is the following (the marked pins (*) are extensions of the initial standard):
Pin 8 is a signal coming from the source, which indicates the type of Vidéo presents (also called
slow commutation ):
- 0 V means “not signal”, or signal interns
- +6 V means: video signal with the format (16: 9) (*)
- +12 V means: video signal with the normal format (4: 3)
Pin 16 is a signal coming from the source, which indicates if the signal is in RVB or composite.
-
0 V - 0,4 V Composite.
- 1 V - 3 V (nominal 1 V) RVB only.
It should be noted that pin 16 is called fast commutation rightly. It can indeed be used to encrust signal RVB within an other video signal. the allowed band-width on fast commutation amounting to 6 MHz.
D ² B ( Domestic DIGITAL Drunk ) is a bus of communication series, defined in a standard CEI. It is a main bus multi, intended for a use Domotique, initially developed by Philips in the Années 1970.
Problems specific to the Péritel catches
Image without the sound
If the rectangular side of the catch is insufficiently inserted, there will be the image, but not the sound. Indeed, the 5 pins corresponding to the sound are on this side.
The catch does not commutate on certain chains or with certain films
The image is in format 16:9, slow commutation is then equal to 6 volts. Certain old television sets do not commutate in lower part of a tension from 8 to 10 volts.
