Pérez Prado
Dámaso Pérez Prado was born the December 11th 1916 with Matanzas with Cuba and deceased the September 14th 1989 with Mexico City with the Mexico.
It was called the king of the Mambo.
Child, it learns how to play of traditional the Piano with Rafael Somavilla.
In 1942, it settles with Havana where it plays of the Piano in the cabarets, then in different Orchestra S: Orquesta Cubaney, Orquesta de Paulina Alvarez and most famous Orchestra of Cuba, Orquesta Casino of Playa.
In 1947, it records “That rico el Mambo” and share in round in Argentine and with the Venezuela.
In 1948, its Musique takes as a starting point the Jazz of Stan Kenton and the innate recording companies Cuba do not want any more the enregister.
It leaves then to Mexico City to the Mexico where it engages with the Chant Benny Moré.
It is also taken as Acteur for films.
It composes so much of pieces that at the end it does not give them more of the names, but of the numbers (Mambo #5 and Mambo #8 is most known).
The December 12th 1949, leaves one 78 turns comprising “That Rico El Mambo” on a face and “Mambo #5” the other.
This disc will start the Mambo handled (called Mambo Craze with the the United States).
In 1955, its version Cha-cha-cha of “Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White” becomes number one during 10 weeks in Billboard, it hit-parade américain.
This title was composed in 1950 by the French
Louiguy (type-setter of “the Bed of roses”
for Edith Piaf), under the title “Cherry tree Pink and White Pommier”
(words of Jacques Larue,
and sung by Andre Claveau, then become traditional of the haversack, taken again by Petula Clark in 1964 and well of others…
In the film “Underwater! ” one sees Jane Russell dancing on “Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White”.
In 1958, “Patricia” is a world success (number one) who will be a music of film of 1960 “the Dolce vita (the Softness of living)” of Federico Fellini.
