Pèire Cardenal

Pèire Cardenal (Cardinal Pierre) was born with the Puy-en-Velay in 1180. He lived until in 1278.

Its work is rich, extremely satirical. It is a famous and skilful troubadour, engaged poet, moralist, rebellious, who denounces the political practices and religious of his time. Father of much of sirventés and some songs too.

He was born with Puy Notre Dame, wire of a knight and rams respected and powerful. His/her father inserted it in Chanoinie de Puy to be a canon.

There he wrote letters and he learned how to read and sing well. He was young and he felt merry and beautiful, thus he wrote his Sirventés.

But while its sirventés were beautiful, they criticized the madness of the world and blamed the false clerks.

It was going from city downtown with its juggler who sang his songs, to amuse the kings and Barons. He died in 98 years and had a very prolific life for this historical period.
