Traditions
The festival of the Saint Nicolas's Day, typical of the North-East of France, is celebrated there each year on December 6th. The saint is incarnated traditionally by a popular character of the village, is chosen for his imposing physical characteristics and his hard glance. He is accompanied by the Bogyman and his hood filled with cudgels. In the olden days, the passage of the Saint Nicolas's Day on its throwing tank of candies in crowd was the apogee of the round which led it during several days of the nursery schools and primary up to the point of organ of this celebration, to the " ruche" where the wise children awaited in front of a cocoa bowl their tangerines, like their Gingerbread chocolate and Saint Nicolas's Day, manufactured by the baker of the village. A famous anecdote tells that the most famous Saint Nicolas's Day and more admired, Rene Géhin, was uncovered by his/her son at the time of the visit to the " ruche" because this one made imprudence to use its pair of shoes for its disguise, which did not fail to draw the attention of the luke-warm small child.
The last known rounds of the Saint Nicolas's Day pushed to the club of the third age, while passing sometimes by the bar also. The " ruche" was destroyed, replaced by a tennis court, and the traditions are lost, until the famous festival of the Mirabelle S and its multiple activities (ninepins, darts, shooting with the cans, greasy pole, tombola, angling…) as well as a popular ball under capital bringing together the villagers for the tasting of traditional a sauerkraut. The ball is done increasingly rare and the dynamism of the village is eroded by the ageing of its population and the departure of the young generations for the city.
