Oxyartès
Oxyartès is noble of Bactriane, undoubtedly the satrap of the province under the empire of the Achéménides.
It fights initially Alexandre Large the but is overcome, either in 328, or in 327 av. J. - C. (the chronology is dubious) and is joined the king of Macedonia. That makes it possible Alexandre to contrary seize Bactriane with relatively little opposition to the close Sogdiane. Its position is reinforced when Alexandre marries his daughter Roxane, met at the time of a banquet, of a great beauty, without it being known if the latter is also the girl of Timosa , concubine of Oxyartès and whose beauty exceeds according to certain authors that of all the women of its time.
Oxyartès accompanies Alexandre in India and jointly controls a time the satrapie of lower Indus with Peithon. After the death of the king in 323 av. J. - C., it is seen confirmed with the head of a satrapie known as “country of the Paropamisades” which corresponds overall to the area of the Hindu-Kouch. It occupies this satrapie in 321 av. J. - C. at the time of the division of Triparadisos but probably died when Séleucos I {{er}} seizes the area.
