Ovoid

See also: egg

In Mathematical, an ovoid is a Surface of class C^1, delimiting a convex field and relatively Compact of R^3. Its name comes owing to the fact that this surface evokes the egg.

The ovoid one has one axis of Symétrie. It can be defined by the Cartesian equation following:

a \ left (1 + ky \ right) x^2 + B y^2 = 1 \,

The value of K influence the round-off observed at the end. The ovoid one of Kepler is a surface of revolution around the axis Z, whose equation is:

y = \ sqrt {x^ {3/2} - x^2}
