Overijse
Overijse is a common Dutch-speaking of Belgium located in Flemish Région in the Province of the Flemish Brabant. The commune includes/understands the villages of Notre-Dame to the Wood (in Dutch Jezus-Eik) (which was already not a commune before fusions, and which is for a small portion also on the commune of Auderghem), Malaises (in Dutch Maleizen), Eizer, Overijse, Terlanen and Tombeek.
It counts currently a little more than 24.000 Dutch-speaking inhabitants with majority, but including/understanding multiple linguistic minorities, including one strong French-speaking and anglophone presence. Liberally served by E411 in its length, it is located at a strategic point at the south-eastern entry of the Belgian capital.
The commune is located in full heart of the electoral district of Brussels-Hall-Vilvorde (BHV), stakes of good many political and Community tuggings.
Historical anecdotes
Overijse is on the river IJse , which was called Isca at the beginning of the Middle Ages, a word Celtique which siginifie water .The humanistic one and Flemish philologist Juste Lipse was born to with it in 1547.
The commune owes to its reputation of good part with her table grapes serriculture.
