Outremeuse

Outremeuse is a district of the town of Liege in Wallonia (Belgium). It is called in Wallon Dju of Foam ( beyond the Meuse ), or more simply Djud' the .
In the beginning, the term indicated the suburb located out of Right Bank of the Meuse, vis-a-vis the historical center of Saint-Lambert located out of left bank, beyond the Pont of the Arches. Currently, it indicates the whole of the district located between the river and the Dérivation since the refitting river of the 19th century.
It is one of oldest and the most popular districts of the city, the “ Left bank ” inhabitant of Li2ege.
It is there that Georges Simenon lived the first years of its life. Its novel hung Saint-Pholien refers in particular to the one of the two parishes of the district. Tchantchès is the other popular figure of the district, in the middle of the annual festivities in the honor of Sainte Marie the August 15th.
