Outline Processor Markup Language
OPML ( Outline Processor Markup Language ) is a format XML making it possible to gather and identify the titles ( outlines ) of a text.
History
It was initially developed by Dave Winner for the software Radio UserLand like a format of file for the applications using these titles. Since it was adopted for multiple uses, most common of them being the exchange of lists of flow RSS between the agrégateurs of news RSS.
The format
Standard OPML defines a “ outline ” in a hierarchical way with a list of ordered attributes. The standard is open, which makes it usable for many types of applications. Microsoft Windows Vista uses it for the classification of flows RSS and other types of data.
Uses
As the specification indicates it, OPML can have multiple uses:
- specifications,
- legal reports,
- plannings of products,
- presentations,
- scenarios,
- repertories,
- personal newspapers,
- newsgroups,
