Oum Errabiaa
Oum Errabiaa , or Oum er R' bia, is the 2nd Fleuve Morocco Ain which takes its source in the Moyen Atlas with 40 km of the town of Khénifra and with 26 km of the town of Me rirt, rural district of Oum Errabiaa. It is long of 600 km and leads to the Atlantic Ocean with Azemmour (area of Abda-Doukkala), located at an altitude of 1240 Mr. By his considerable flow of 117m ³ /s, of many Barrage S (eight) there are built, most known are Bin el Ouidane, built on Oued El Aabid, of with dimensions of Azilal, close to the town of Beni Mellal and to 120 km of Khénifra; and the Maachou stopping with the mouth of Oum Errabiaa. This river contributes to the agricultural development of the plain of Tadla and that of Abda-Doukkala. The affluents of Oum Errabiaa are Srou wadi (the principal affluents are Oued Chbouka and Oued Ouaoumana). In addition to Oum Errabiaa, one can quote Oued Moulouya and his affluent Anesgumir, Oued Grou, affluent of Bouregreg, Oued Ksiksou and Oued Boukhmira.
On the hydrologigue plan the Province of Khénifra constitutes a large water tank by its complex hydrological system.
These rivers occur in the area of Khénifra to form 3 large hydraulic basins:
- the basin of Oum Errabia.
- the basin of Moulouya.
- the basin of Bouregreg.
Etymology
According to the oral tradition, the nomination of Oum Errabiaa, meaning " Mother of the printemps" comes from the 40 small sources (soft and salted, which feed the river). The other mythlogic version is that Oum Errabiaa swore to sacrifice by drowning 40 people per annum, since the source to the mouth. The town of Khénifra is fed out of drinking water, by a purification plant of water of the river, of a marked taste.
The basin of Oum Errabiaa
- Surface.
The basin of Oum Errabia constitutes a whole of complex river, concentrating in the part of the Average Atlas (causse, meseta and to dir it), it acts river system including/understanding Oum Errabiaa, Srou wadi, Chbouka wadi. The showpiece of the basin is on the main axis of Oum Errabia (Wadi El Abid). This basin being regarded as a hydraulic reservoir for part of the country, a whole of stoppings was built there (six).
Agriculture does not cease developing, particularly on the basins of Tadla and Abda Doukala.
Stoppings
Principal stoppings:Province of Khénifra
The stopping Tanafnit El Borj
The Barrage Tanafnit El Borj to 25 km of Khénifra is the 1st hydro-electric Barrage builds at the village of Tanafnit, upstream of the sources of Oum Errabia. The realization of the complex will imply the creation of a stopping, the improvement of the road infrastructures of the area and will generate part-time jobs of the 90.000 man-days equivalence.
Located in the Province of Khénifra, being to approximately 40 km in the North-East of the town of Khénifra, this installation profits from an important natural regularization thanks to the sources of Oum er Rbia which ensure the wadi of the particularly constant minimum flows.
Of a working installed capacity of 2 X 9 MW, the installation of Tanafnit consist in harnessing the flows of this source to just restore them with the upstream of hydroelectric installation El Borj. (source O.N.E)
Province of Blessed Mellal
The stopping Ahmed El Hanssali
The stopping Ahmed El Hansali, located close to the center Zaouyat Sheik at 50 km of Kasba Tadla, is a riprap work with mask upstream out of concrete, making it possible to create a reserve of 740 million m3, to regularize 473 million m ³ and to obtain a fall varying between 51 and 82 m for the production of electrical energy. Its construction on Oum Errabia constitutes a strategic asset, on the hydro-electric level and for the irrigation of the plain of Blessed Amir (36.000 hectares), in addition to the drinkable water provision. Its storage capacity is of 350 million m ³.
Stopping Has Ouarda
The Barrage Has Ouarda is located in the principal province of Azilal on wadi El abid affluent of the river Oum Errabiaa.
Stopping Bin el Ouidane
Stopping built with Has Aissa close to Azilal and to Blessed Mellal), on Oued El ABID large tributary of Oum Errabiaa. The rivers of the basin are consisted of the wadi Oum er Rbia and its principal affluents: Tessaout, Lakhdar and El Abid., downstream from the city of the town of Khénfra, brought into service in 1954, its height is of 123 m, capacity of reserve: 1,253 mm3, covering a surface of 6,5 km ².It allows the development of the plain of Tadla (70 000 hectares of fertile grounds) and contributes to develop agricultural of Morocco by the production of sugar beets (150 000 tonnes/an) like per adequate industrial infrastructure (intended for sugar, cotton, and milk).
The hydro-electric stopping of Afourer provides an energy production of 600 billion kilowatt-hours, that is to say two thirds of the hydraulic electricity of origin of Morocco.
The stoppings Abda Doukala
This concentration of the stoppings below plays triple role:-
Irrigation of the large plain A' bda and Doukala.
- Hydroelectric production.
- Drinking water supply the area of Casablanca
- Stopping Al Massira
- Stopping Imfout
- Stopping Daourat
- Stopping Sidi Said Maachou
The stopping on Oum Errabiaa was brought into service in 1929 and was the first stopping built in Morocco, designed with a hydro-electric aim in 1952, it will feed drinking water Casablanca.
