Oulu

Oulu (name Swedish Uleåborg ) is a city of Finland located on the north-eastern coast of the Gulf of Bothnia, in Ostrobotnie of North (Pohjois-Pohjanmaa).

Located approximately 150 kilometers at the south of the Arctic Circle, Oulu is subjected to great variations of the duration of the day during the year, and knows temperature variations of -40 with +30°C.

Oulu, with today nearly 130.000 inhabitants (more than 200.000 with the common neighbors), is in the middle of the fourth Agglomération of Finland. It is the administrative, cultural and commercial center of Finland of north and the center.

History

Oulu was founded in 1605 by Charles IX of Sweden to the mouth of the Rivière of Oulu.
