Ouled Sidi Yahia

The Ouled Yahia or Ouled Sidi Yahia are a confederation of tribes of origin arabo- Berbère and sometimes afro-Berber or arabo-African. It is difficult to étabir an ethnic origin.

Tradition and of worship

The Ouled Sidi Yahia are of tradition and ic worship Islam. Their Islamite is traditionally erudite and peacefully pertaining to worship according to Ibn Khaldoun. Charles-Andre Julien and Jacques Berque tried to study their influence in North Africa mainly the the Maghreb.

Places known as " Sidi Yahia"

In the Maghreb, the ouled Sidi Yahia are established along the chaïne Atlas. Their camping is often indicated by the name of their wali Sidi Yahia Ben Taleb, a wali of Zawali. For example, at the borders algério-Tunisian and more exactly with 2 km the town of El Miridj where its tomb is, the area of Morsott - Boukhadra has door its name: Jihat Sidi Yahia, Oued Sidi Yahia etc Towards the west to Morocco while passing by Algiers, many are the places known as which bear its name, including the cemetery of Sidi Yahia in Algiers.

Ouled Sidi Yahia or Sidi Yahia is several times a place name in Algérie, Tunisia and to the Morocco.

Sidi Yahia, a wali

Sidi Yahia is Wali salah i.e. a blessed spéritiel chief. The wali of the humble ones. He lived for his religion and served his commaunity which bears its name. Its heritage constitutes the federator bond of all the tribes which are declared of Ouled Sidi Yahia.

Tribes of Oueld Sidi Yahia

The tribes the most studied are those of Algeria.

By these tribes, are those established along the area of Aures and in particular with the east of Algeria. As example the most known tribes in this area are: Magharsa, Malim, Haraïssia, Bilala, Mrazgua, Labadnana.

On the other hand, in Kabylie, several tribes declare confideration of Ouled Sidi Yahia or Sidi Yahia Has (Yahia Has)

The tribes established in Morocco attach more importance to pertaining to worship dimension of their attachment with Sidi Yahia.

In Tunisia, the bond is diluted more and the tribes do not draw up necessarily a direct link with Sidi Yahia.

The ouled Yahia have a cultural idendity which rests on the symbols of their Wali:

the Category: green flag without any inscription for standard.
the annual vist " Ziara" with the mausoleum of Wali and its trusty servants who also bear the name of Sidi El Wali: Sidi Zilaoui , Sidi Amar , Sidi Abdallah , Sidi Taleb , Sidi Miskine .
Of the many songs soufi and mystic with the glory of the prophet of Islam and all Wali Have-salihine.
