Oulainen

Oulainen is a city west of the Finland, in the Province of Oulu and the area of Ostrobotnie of North.

Large agricultural village, it is located in full heart of the large plains of Ostrobotnie. It is largely eclipsed by its neighbors a little more important, in particular Ylivieska to 30 km and Raahe to 65 km.

If the zone is inhabited since millenia, it is only with the whole beginning of the 17th century that a small village starts to develop near the rapids of the Pyhäjoki. It develops lentemant, counting only 1.643 more inhabitants in 1810. It is a very late area which sees arriving the train in 1886. It develops a little as a garrison town, then in around the Sanatorium, founded in 1914, increased on several occasions since. It gave rise to important a hospital.

In addition to the Agriculture and the exploitation of the Forest there, one finds some small companies in varied sectors, most significant being Oulaisten Liikenne , the most important company of bus of the north of Finland.

Helsinki is with 534 km and Oulu to 101. The communes bordering are Haapavesi in south-east, Ylivieska in south-west, Merijärvi in the west, Pyhäjoki in the North-West and Vihanti in the North-East.
