Otto Graf Lambsdorff
Otto Friedrich Wilhelm Freiherr von der Wenge, Count Lambsdorff (born on December 20th, 1926 with Aachen) is a German politician pertaining to the left liberal-democrat ( Freie Demokratische Partei in German, shortened in FDP) since 1951.
It is a federal former minister for the Economy (1977-1982 then 1982-1984) which also chaired its party (1988-1993).
Biography and trades
Lambdsdorff is the elder one of the three children of the Count Herbert Lambsdorff (1899-1976) and of Eva von Schmid (1904-1978).From 1932 to 1944, he attends a school in the neighborhoods of Berlin then the Ritterakademie of Brandebourg-on-the-Havel. Its studies are stopped towards the end of the Second world war since, of 1944 to 1945, it is used for it like soldier. It is there that it is done seriously wounded and that it must undergo the amputation of a leg.
In 1946, it passes its Baccalauréat to One (the Rhineland of North/Westphalia) then continues studies of right and sciences of State to Bonn and Cologne to obtain, respectively in 1950 and 1955, its two diplomas. Lastly, since 1988, he is member of the board of trustees with IVECO Magirus (German ship-owner of vehicles of firemen). Since 1960, it can also follow the lawyer occupation.

Lambsdorff joined the party liberal-democrat in 1951
- It sat at the Bundestag, where it represented its party for the economy, of 1972 to 1998
- on October 7th, 1977, the federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt appoints it Minister for the Economy, posts that it will find as of on October 4th, 1982 under the Chancellery of Helmut Kohl (the Ministers for the FDP had resigned on September 17th, 1982)
- In 1988, it succeeds Martin Bangemann with the head of the FDP
