Otto Abetz

Otto Abetz (born the May 26th 1903 and deceased the May 5th 1958) was the German Ambassade ur with Paris (France) during the Second world war.

Biography

It was born with Schwetzingen. First of all teacher, it joined the Nazi party in 1931. In 1932, Abetz marries Suzanne de Bruyker a Frenchwoman, who was secretary of Jean Luchaire. Of 1934 with 1939, it publishes with Fritz Bran a review, the Franco-German Cahiers , the purpose of which was to propagate the Idéologie Nazi E in the medium of the French intellectuals.

Entered the German service of the Foreign affairs in 1935, it represented the Germany in France in 1938 and 1939, and was initiated with the Franc-maçonnerie: he had been member of the Goethe cabin of GLF.

He was expelled of France at the time of the declaration of war of France in Germany. He worked to set up a policy of Collaboration with, in particular, his friend the journalist Jean Luchaire, with whom he organized before 1933 congresses of Franco-German youths preaching the reconciliation and which will be shot at the time of the purification.

The July 8th 1940, following the Armistice between France and Germany, it was again sent in France. Named German ambassador in November 1940, it preserved this station until 1944.

In July 1949, the military Tribunal of Paris condemned it to 20 years of forced labors for war crimes, in particular for its role in the organization of the deportation of the Juif S of France towards the camps of dead the. It was released in April 1954.

He died in 1958 in an car accident. According to certain rumors, this accident would be rather an act of revenge following the activities on Abetz during the Second world war.
