Ottmar Hitzfeld
Ottmar Hitzfeld (born on January 12th, 1949 with Lörrach) is a trainer and ex-player of German Football. Since the beginning of 2007, he is again the trainer of the Bayern Munich after having already occupied this station between 1998 and 2004. He is the only trainer, with the Austrian Ernst Happel, to have gained twice the Ligue of the champions to the head of two different clubs: the Borussia Dortmund in 1997 and Bayern Munich in 2001.
After a career of player (attacker) last in the Swiss championship and in Bundesliga, Hitzfeld becomes trainer with the beginning of the year 1980 in Switzerland. It gains its first title with Aarau in 1985 (a cut of Switzerland). It then climbs very regularly the levels by involving Grasshopper (2 championships) then the Borussia Dortmund which it leads to the title 4 years after its arrival. In 1997, it finally gains with the general surprise the Ligue of the champions with Borussia by beating the Juventus (holding of the title). It completes this magic year by gaining the Intercontinental Coupe and while being indicated world Entraîneur of the year .
As of the following season, it is engaged by the large rival of Dortmund, the Bayern Munich. Its first passage in Bavaria will be marked by an impressive series of triumphs, among which 4 championships, a news Ligue of the champions in 2001 (after a victory with the shootings with the goals vis-a-vis FC Valence, two years after a final lost under rocambolesques conditions against Manchester United) and a Intercontinental Coupe the same year. It logically gains its second title of world Entraîneur of the year .
Hitzfeld decides in 2004 to make a station-wagon. It is strongly had a presentiment of to become the selector of the '' Nationalmannschaft '' which will dispute the World cup 2006 in residence but it declines the station, with the profit of Jürgen Klinsmann.
Its return on the bench of Bayern is for the moment prolofique since, for the first time for a long time, the Bavarian club was not qualified for the League of the champions at the conclusion of the season 2006-2007.
