Othon of the Rock
Othon (or Otton) of the Rock , was noble Burgundian (originating in the castle of the Rock, county of Burgundy, currently located in the commune of Rigney, Doubs). It had the title of Megaskyr (large-lord) of Athens, and took the title of duke of Athens in 1208, submitting its possessions to the king of Thessalonique.
He married in first wedding his cousin Isabelle de Ray and was lord of the Ray-on-Saone (the High Saone). Its descendants bore the name of the Rock (to Greece) or Ray (in France).
