Otherness

The otherness is a philosophical concept meaning “the character of what is different”. This article sticks to the only social point of view of the recognition of the other in its difference .

Comprehension

The otherness implies a laic relation, accessible, which joins the interbreeding cultures, far away from the concept of tolerance. The otherness is closely related to the conscience of the relation to the others as they is different and needs to be recognized in their right to be themselves and different.

The otherness is a testimony of comprehension of the characteristic of each one, except standardization, individually or in group.

The otherness is an attitude developed in Médiation and particularly developed in the contexts of interculturality.

Difference, between otherness and tolerance
