Othenin of Montbeliard

Only sons of Renaud of Burgundy, Othenin the " fol" will be Count of Montbeliard but could not intervene in the businesses of the county because of its debility. It was put under supervision of his uncle, Hugues de Chalon. He lived recluse in the castle of Montfaucon, close to Besancon, until his death.

Trawl-net, the county of Montbeliard will make return to the family of Montfaucon by Henri Ier (husband of Agnes, 3rd girl of Renaud). Othenin dies in 1338. It will be buried with the Saint-Maimbœuf church of Montbeliard. By the Emperor Louis IV of the Holy roman Empire, Henri Ier accepted officially the nomination of Montbeliard in 1339.
