Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho

Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho (August 31st 1936, with Lourenço Marks become Maputo) is a former serviceman Portuguese and one of the strategists of the Révolution of the eyelets.

Biography

Born with Maputo (Lourenço Marks) with the Mozambique in 1936. His/her father was civil servant and his mother, clerk railway. secondary
Education at the school of state of Maputo. It returned to the Military academy of Lisbon at the nineteen years age. In active service in Angola of 1961 with 1963 as a second lieutenant, then captain of 1965 with 1967.
En station in Guinea-Bissau in 1970 as a captain under the orders of the General António Spínola. Person in charge of the businesses and propaganda civil. For this period, it is implied in the dispute of the " Congress of Combattants". In 1973 it returns to the Portugal and supports the Mouvement of the Captains. In May 1975, it is temporarily promoted with the rank of General. After the coup d'etat of November 25th, it is dislocated of its functions to its own request. Two months later, it is stopped with the reason for abuse of power, in spite of its responsibilities with COPCON. Released after having spent 40 days in prison.
En 1976 it is presented in the form of a candidate to the presidential election. In October 1976 again stopped. After twenty days of prison, it is released and its civic rights are suspendus.
En 1979, it is affected in the reserve army.

In 1982, it is recalled by the Army, since it its discharge had been considered politically justified. In June 1984, it is stopped for its participation supposed in an terrorist organization (FP25, forces of April 25th). Slackened in 1989, parole, it currently awaits a definite decision of the Supreme court.
