Otello Profazio

Otello Profazio is a Calabrian popular singer born in 1934 with Rende Cosenza, in Calabria.

The Artist

Otello Profazio is, following the example its sicilian counterpart Orazio Strano, a singer of the the Mezzogiorno practitioner his art according to the musical traditions of Southern Italy. There begins its career in 1968 and will remain faithful to the dialect Sicilo-Calabrian through his 19 albums, the last going back to 2006. In spite of its million sold copies, Otello Profazio takes an active part always in small festivals in Calabria and Sicily, often in rural area. In 1973, Profazio leaves It Brigante Musolino , disc which pays homage to legendary the Giuseppe Musolino, true " Robin of Bois" Calabrian who lived at the XIX century.
