Ostrinia
In the taxonomy of the Insects, Ostrinia is a kind (i.e. a taxonomic unit) included in the order of Lépidoptères (butterflies). This kind knew several names of which those of Botys and Pyrausta. Several species of the ostrinia kind are ravageurs of the cultures, such Ostrinia nubilalis (the European corn borer) which feeds on corn and other plants (sweet peppers, beans…) ; Ostrinia furnacalis (the Asian European corn borer); Ostrinia scapulalis which attacks the Adzuki bean cultivated in Japan and in other parts of Asia.
