Ossoue

The valley of Ossoue , with the foot of the Hourquette d' Ossoue , is dug by the gave of Ossoue , an affluent of the Gave de Gavarnie in Lavedan in the French Département of the Hautes-Pyrénées).

Etymology

Ossoue is a related Hydronyme Pyrenean with Ousse .

The valley of Ossoue

The valley of Ossoue is leant with the north-eastern side of the Vignemale , where is the glacier of Ossoue , the only one of the the Pyrenees to develop a glacial language of more than 1 km (attention: encordement necessary). It emerges with Gavarnie, more in the east.

One penetrates there by a track which passes by the cants of Milhas to lead to the dam Ossoue (1834 m) near the hut of the same name. After the selected water, are the Oule ttes of Ossoue , a small plain.

Hourquette d' Ossoue

The Hourquette of Ossoue (2 734 m) is a Col of mountain between the Petit Vignemale (3  032  m) and the Peak of Sède (2  976  m) which closes the valley in the west.

Borrowed by HRP, it makes it possible to join the valley of Gaube . One reaches it after a rise of 800  m on steep and stony slopes. The way skirts splendid cascades, passes by the caves of Bellevue , dug at the 19th century, then by the refuge of Bayssellance (2  651  m).

This collar also the usual way for small Vignemale leaves.

The gave of Ossoue

The gave of Ossoue is a left affluent of the Gave de Gavarnie downstream from Gavarnie, it is born from the collection many brooks with the foot of the Vignemale and feeds with semi-course the water reserve which is the Lake Ossoue.
