Geography

Ossiriand is a wooded area of the east of the Beleriand located between the river Gelion and the Blue Montagnes.

This area is crossed by the six affluents of the Gelion:

  1. the river Ascar named later Rathlóriel
  2. the river Thalos
  3. the river Legolin
  4. the river Brilthor
  5. the river Duilwen
  6. the river Adurant

In the south of Ossiriand on the Adurant river the island of Tol Galen is where lived Beren and Luthien.

Along Ascar the old road of the dwarves was who led to the mines of Belegost and Nogrod.

Ossiriand and the Thargelion were the only areas of the Beleriand which were not submerged at the end of the first age. Ossiriand was then famous Lindon.
