Osorkon (large priest of Amon)

Osorkon or “Prince Osorkon” is Grand Priest of Amon with Thèbes of -845 with -835.

He is surely the son of Takélot {{II}} (-850 with -825). Promoted first Prophet of Amon by Nimlot {{II}}, it is disputed by part of Thébains which wish it king of Tanis in the place of his/her brother Sheshonq {{III}}.

The hostilities burst and the revolt is subdued by the force. A civil war follows in year 15 and lasts ten years.

Less than two years after a first truce, Thébains take again the fight and Osorkon loses foot in High-Egypt. Time for him to regain Tanis, Takélot () died and it place is occupied by the young brother of the king Sheshonq {{III}}.

Certain historians compare it to Osorkon {{III}}.
