Osny
Osny is a commune of the Val-d'Oise, area Île-de-France, located on the Viosne and another arm of this one named the Grass snake.
Geography
Surrounded by Pontoise in the east, Cergy in the south, Puiseux-Pontoise, Boissy-l' Aillerie and Cormeilles-in-Vexin with the west, Génicourt and Ennery in north, Osny counts nearly 15.000 inhabitants ( Onyssois ) concentrated especially around the old village ( street Aristide-Briand , old road of Paris to Rouen) and to the park of activity of the Beautiful-Suns.The old village, the station, districts of Ravinière, Vauvarois and Moulinard ( quoted ) which owe their names in the old local terms constitute the main part of the allotments of the commune in the south. North is composed of suburban districts, fields and wood (half of the territory).
Thanks to the development of the RD 915 and viaduct of the Viosne for Pontoise, there exists from now on a retail park which grows of day in day ( the Osiery ), associated with houses, with an important college, with the private clinic Sainte Marie (removal of Pontoise with Osny in August 2005).
Heraldic
History
August 1stOsny is one of the places painted by Camille Pissarro which there lived in 1883 and 1884 and represented the commune in at least seventy-eight fabrics, and some other impressionist painters or post-impressionists such Paul Gauguin then Alexandre-Rene Véron and William Thornley. However the places which were represented, primarily the small rural inheritance, do not make the object of any protection or development, contrary to what occurred in the common neighbors of Pontoise or Auvers-sur-Oise for example which set up of the ZPPAUP (Protection zone of the architectural, urban and landscape heritage). On the contrary, certain places are threatened of disappearance in order to leave room to real estate schemes, the commune knowing a strong increase in population forming integral part of the new Ville of Cergy-Pontoise, and the municipality places from there seeming little worried by its vernacular inheritance.
Administration
Safety
The rate of criminality of the district of police force of Cergy (including Pontoise, Saint-Ouen-the Alms, Osny, Éragny and Pierrelaye) is of 110,62 acts for 1000 inhabitants (crimes and offenses, figures 2005) what locates it in second position in the Val-d'Oise behind Enghien-the-Baths, largely beyond average the main road (83/1000) and secondary road (88,15/1000). The rate of resolution of the businesses by the police services is of 30,46%, slightly higher than the average of the department of 28,83%.
