Oskol

The Oskol (or Oskil: Russian Оскол /Ukrainian Оскiл ) is a river of 436 km which runs in the south of the Russia and in Ukraine. This left affluent of the Donets takes its source in the south-east of the area of Koursk crosses north to the south the area of Belgorod then passes to Ukraine or is located half the length of its course. It crosses the area of Kharkov before being thrown in Donets. The storage dam of Krasno-Oskol ( Chervonooskil Reservoir , Червоноскільськеводосховище ) located in Ukraine was inaugurated in 1958 to control the river and to produce electricity.

The first city located on the river is Stari Oskol and more the big city of Ukraine east Koupiansk.
