Osgiliath
Osgiliath ( citadel of the stars in Sindarin) is a fictitious city in the work of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Old capital of the Gondor, until the year 1640 of the Third Age of the Sun, where the Citadel of Stars was, in which sat Isildur and AnĂ¡rion, and which was drawn up on two banks like on a central island of the Anduin. This city was taken and destroyed by the first Uruk-hai S blacks with the service of Mordor. At the time of the war of the ring Faramir and its soldiers defended it but the servants of Sauron unloaded thanks to tens of boats built on the oriental party of the river and ended up pushing back the gondoriens at the price of heavy losses. In spite of that, this city in ruins was not always thus, formerly it acted of a prosperous and rich city, of an enormous beauty. But as being very exposed, it could not resist to the troops of orcs of Mordor. Those one been able to attack of all shares, by sending inexhaustible troops made up of orcs, of uruk-hai of the mordor, trolls and bad men, avid to take the old city. Until the retirement of Faramir, the shootings of catapults did not cease destroying the buildings, and to the court of the years, the river of Anduin left its bed and could absorb part of the city. This city was taken again in first by Boromir the son of the intendant, a little later the brother of Boromir could not hold, and while wanting to include it in a suicidal load, returned only survivor with two black features of the orcs in the sides.
