Oscar II of Sweden
Oscar II of Sweden (1829 - 1907) was king de Suède of 1872 to its death in 1907 and king de Norvège of 1872 with 1905.
Sons of the king Ier Oscar of Sweden (1799-1859) and Joséphine de Leuchtenberg grand-daughter of the Joséphine Empress marries of Napoleon I, he is also thus grandson of the marshal Bernadotte, and younger brother of Charles XV of Sweden, king in 1859, he married in 1857 the Duchess Sophie de Nassau (1836-1913). They had four wire whose elder one was king de Suède under the name of Gustave V.
Its reign was marked by the rupture of the personal union between Sweden and Norway, in June 1905.
Impassioned literature and of music, it published historical novels and translations.
Boni of Castellane pays to have met at the countess Edmond de Pourtalès the king Oscar II and to have taken it for Paul Déroulède so much it resembled to him.
He is first king de Suède whose effigy appeared on a postage stamp Swedish in 1885.
He was freemason.
