Os sésamoïde

The bone sésamoïde car its name of the grain of Sesame. It is name small Os in the shape of sesame grain that one finds mainly close to the articulation S or in the thickness to tendons. The formation of the bones sésamoïde is different from that of normal bone since are vestige of calcified ligament.

One often finds two of them on the palmar face of the first Métacarpien, a median and side. But aussisur the distal part of the diaphyse of the femur, this bone sésamoïde bears the name of Fabella.
