Os Mutant

Os Mutant (in Portuguese the Mutants ) is a group Brésil IEN of music Psychédélique formed in 1966. He is generally regarded as one of most important of the movement Tropicalia.

Style

Even during a time of exploration and musical experimentation, Os Mutant was dissociated while being inventive with their styles of music which embraces the Psychédélique, the pop, the Blues, and the Rock. The group tested with the distortion, the sonority of the words, the effects of re-injection (Feedback) as well as unusual musical instruments to create a free and enjoué pop sound. According to the notes of Everything is Possible , one of the principal instruments on the First happiness of the day is a Aérosol of insecticide. In its last years, Os Mutant under a strong influence of the progressive Rock was.

History

Os Mutant was formed with São Paulo, with the Brésil, in 1966 by the brothers Arnaldo Baptista (low, keyboards and voice) and Sergio Dias (guitars and voice) with their singer Rita Lee. In 1971, the bass player Liminha and the beater Dinho officially joined the group. They produced five albums before Lee does not leave, or is returned (the opinions differ on this subject), in 1972 to begin its career solo. Arnaldo left the group in 1973 because of its problems with LSD, followed by Dinho and, the following year, of Liminha. With Sergio Dias like only original member, the group continued with other musicians until his dissolution in 1978.

Contemporaries

Os Mutant worked in close cooperation with other artists tropicalia and MPB (abbreviation of Portuguese Música Popular Brasileira , Brazilian popular music) of their time, including:

Influence

Even if Os Mutant forever reached banks of the Western popular music, it influenced several artists of anglophone expression. For example, Kurt Cobain publicly asked for a round of meeting again of the trio in 1993, Beck launched an experimental album called Mutations referring to the mutant directly with the song tubes Tropicalia . David Byrne, which supported the group by the contest of the label Luaka Bop, wore a dress of giant in the OS style Mutant for the spectacles of Talking Heads and assembled Everything is Possible , the album Mutant compilation of OS launched by Luaka Bop in 1999.
