Geography
The commune of Orvilliers is located at 60 km in the west of Paris, and at 16 km in the south of Mantes-the-Pretty, in the plate of Mantois, to 130 m of altitude approximately. It is served by the secondary road 983 which connects Mantes-the-Pretty to Houdan.
The commune is bordering on Mulcent in north, of Prunay-the-Temple in the east, Richebourg in the south and Civry-the-Forest in the west.
History
This territory had in the history of many owners: until XVe century, they are the families of Orvilliers, Richebourg and Tranchelion. Of 1562 until the beginning of the XVIIIe century, it is possession of the Vialard family. During the XVIIIe century, the owners will follow one another: it will be initially the count of Have then the king Louis XV in 1773, the duke of Penthièvre in 1775, the family Gautier de Chailly in 1776 and the family of Oil cake in 1785. As from 1840, it becomes possession of the abbey of Orgerus.
Administration
After having formed part, in 1790, canton of Septeuil, the commune is attached to the canton of Houdan since 1802.- the White House: old coffee acquired in 1934 by one of his/her uncles, it was the residence of the president Georges Pompidou.

Personalities related to the commune
- Georges Pompidou, President of the French Republic, had a residence in the village and is buried in the communal cemetery, just as his wife Claude Pompidou.
