Orthodoxe syriaque church

The orthodoxe syriaque Église is an Eastern orthodoxe Church autocéphale. It belongs to the whole of the Églises of the three councils (or orthodoxe Eastern). The chief of the Church carries the title of Patriarche of Antioche and all East , with residence with Damas (titular current: Its Holiness Ignace Zakka I {{er}} Iwas since 1980).

The title of Patriarche of Antioche is very disputed and is currently carried also by four other chiefs of Church.

History

The orthodoxe syriaque Church was born into 37 following the foundation from a church by Saint Pierre with Antioche. To today Saint Pierre remains the first Syriaque Patriarch of the history of this church. Saint Evodius succeeds to him into 67 after his death in Rome.

Since 1994, the orthodoxe syriaque Church takes part in a series of oecumenical discussions with the other Churches of syriaque tradition, on the initiative of the Foundation Pro Directs, organization depend on the catholic diocese of Vienna in Austria. These discussions gather representatives of separate Catholic churches and, Western syriaque tradition (orthodoxe syriaque Church, syriaque Catholic church, orthodoxe Église malankare, Catholic church syro-malankare, Église Maronite) and of Eastern syriaque tradition (Assyrian apostolic Église of the East, Ancienne Church of the East, Catholic church chaldéenne, Catholic church syro-malabare).
