Orthèse
A orthèse is an equipment which:
-
compensates for a function absent or overdrawn
- assists a structure articular or muscular
- stabilizes a body segment during a phase of réadaptaion or rest
. In opposition to the Prosthesis which replaces a missing element.
There exist the endo-prostheses which replace an element interns (total prosthesis of hip) and the exo-prostheses which replace a member amputee. A orthèse can be static or of stabilization such as for example by fixing a wrist to allow the movement of the fingers. It can also be articulated to compensate a movement absent or overdrawn (orthèse known as " araignée" to replace the extension of the fingers paralyzed). The orthèse makes it possible to obtain a therapeutic effect by a mechanical mode of action. A orthèse with the knee allows the tibia only one possible movement (before back), which does not allow the practice of all the sports of balloon where there is démarquage, frequent stop.
The Attelle S are means of application intended to maintain or support part of a member. A splint in general is not circular (all around the member) in opposition to the plaster which, is circular for him. The bands foundations of concrete are often replaced now by resin bands which polymerize with the moisture of the air.
