Orrin Grant Hatch (born in 1934) is an American politician, member of the Republican party and senator of the Utah to the Congrès of the United States since 1977.

Civil identity

Orrin Hatch was born the March 22nd 1934 with Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Member of the Church of Jesus-Christ of the Saints of the Last Days, it is married in Elaine Hansen (native of Utah) whose it have six children. He is grandfather of 20 small children.

He is graduate in history and right and initially began his professional path as an attorney in Pennsylvania then in Utah.

Political career

In 1976, Orrin Hatch is elected with the Sénat of the United States beating the democratic senator outgoing Frank Moss, holder of the seat since 1959.

In 2000, he is candidate with the republican primary educations but is erased in front of George W. Bush.

Until 2004, Hatch chaired the commission of the legal affairs of the Senate. He is Member of the Commissions and sub-commissions of the international business, finances, the secret services, the Indian businesses…

Orrin Hatch is a preserving republican pro-life (anti Avortement) but also a defender of research on the Original cells. In May 2005, with the liberal republican, Arlen Specter, he is the spokesperson of the resistance of the Congress to the threat of president Bush to resort to her right to veto against the law aiming at developing the federal financing of the research on the embryonic original cells, already voted by the Chambre of the Representatives and which was presented and voted by plebiscite by the Senate.

In 2006, Hatch is re-elected at its post of senator with 63% of the voices compared with 31% with the democrat Pete Eshdown.
