Ornithological park of Teich

The ornithological park of Teich is a natural space of 120 hectares arranged to accommodate the wild birds, and to allow their observation the public. It is located on the Bassin of Arcachon in France in the commune of the Teich.

Site and history

The park is composed of maritime Marais, Lagune S, Roselière S, meadows and forests located at the bottom of the basin of Arcachon close to embourchure of the Eyre. It was arranged on piscicultural installations created at the 18th century. The park is opened with the public since 1972 and is managed by the commune of Teich with the assistance of the Regional natural park of the Moors of Gascogne.

Birds

The park, located on the way of the migratory birds and close to a sheltered maritime basin of the elements, is attended by 260 species of which 80 nest on the spot.

The migratory birds are present in autumn and in spring. One finds there populations particularly many of white storks, brushes, Héron S as well as rarer representatives of species, such as the white Spatule, the Tadorne de Belon, etc

Courses

The park includes/understands 3 courses, which can be connected, whose largest a loop of 4 km forms and includes/understands 17 observatories including four elevated.
