Orleans-the-Source is a excentré district of Orleans located at ten kilometers in the south of its downtown area, in Lisière of the the Sologne.
General information
It is about the vastest district of
Orleans, where the most important place is the Université of Orleans, being surrounded by many companies and dwellings but of few big businesses (which are rather located in edge of its contour, on the town of Olivet).
She wants to be then “quoted pilot of XXIe century”. Its town planning was drawn by the architect Louis Arretche starting from 1960. It draws the key plan of the city whose “princes will be the pedestrians” in only one city for the university and the inhabitants, with the concern of preserving a maximum of trees. The urban center is arranged on a flagstone, with 7500 residences built in twenty years.
The habitat is primarily in buildings with apartments with moderated rents, with sometimes of the problems inherent in the quoted of the suburbs . The district is the object for this reason project of urban renewal signed with ANRU.
There exist several suburban zones more cossues.
Another important place which is there is the Floral garden Source, auprès whose the source of the Loiret is.

The district comprises several infrastructures with local, regional or national vocation:

- several organizations of Scientific research, including/understanding laboratories of CNRS, the Office of geological and mining research, the laboratories of the agronomic National research institute;
