Origin of the war
According to the epic tradition, the protest of Gaïa in connection with the increase not controlled in the human population is at the origin of the war. Suffering from the weight of her loading, the goddess expresses her complaints with Zeus. The father of the gods, noting the need for decreasing the numbers of human beings on ground, causes the wars. The forwarding of Troy as of other bloody conflicts being spread out over one long period is, according to Hésiode, the reason for which the generation of the heroes is exterminated.
